Policing Communities of Color: Practicality vs. Legality

  • Thursday, November 12, 2015
  • 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
  • Loyola Law School, 919 Albany St., Los Angeles, CA 90015

What effect does knowing your rights have when encountering the police? Should you (and how would you) assert those rights to avoid a potential physical escalation? Are there consequences to asserting those rights? Judge David S. Cunningham (former Los Angeles Police Commission President) and UCLA Law Professor Devon Carbado will discuss the intersection of legal knowledge and the practical realities people of color face during police encounters.

This is APABA's second installment in its Policing Communities of Color series. Please join us for what promises to be an engaging and important discussion.

Please register online. Admission is free, and parking is available for $9 in the Loyola Law School lot. A light dinner will be served. For more information, please see the event flyer.
